HOW TO PLANT NEW GRASS SEED

If you have a lawn within the premises of your house property, landscaping is beneficial. It not only adds beauty to the house but also generates more oxygen within the vicinity of your house. Landscaping simply means transforming a lawn or adding features to the lawn to make it look like a garden.

LANDSCAPING

Landscaping includes planting trees, shrubs, and flowers. Planting the grass seed is an essential part of landscaping. Without the presence of grass in the lawn, there’s no way you are carrying out the landscaping procedure right. Planting the new grass seed is as important in landscaping as watering the plants.

If you have not planted the new grass seed in your lawn, here is how you should do it:

BUY FINEST GRASS SEED

For working out your landscaping plan, it is important to have a great green lawn first. A great lawn is only possible with buying the best grass seeds.  When buying for the seeds, look only for the NTEP verified variety. It means that the grass seeds with the NTEP verification have been evaluated and tried. It means that you are buying those seeds which has been particularly bred for drought tolerance, insect and disease resistance, and green grass color.

PREPARE THE SOIL  BENEATH

For planting the new grass seeds in place of the existing grass,  mow the lawn as short as possible.  Loosen the soil top one-fourth in bare surface spots. Remove the sticks, barks, and debris from the lawn. The lawn should be clean of the debris. After that, there must be unleveled lawn areas. Level the lawn for an even surface so that the water might not collect in the uneven areas.  Moreover, do not use the added soil to avoid weed. Use the previous topsoil.

PLANT GRASS SEED

Now distribute the seeds evenly all across the lawn. If you have a large lawn, try to spread the seeds with a seed spreader or a mechanical seed spreader instead of using your hand to spread.  Only plant 16 inches per sq. Feet. This way all the seeds will have room for nutrients and water. If you would disperse the seeds closely, the grass would come out to be thin in some particular areas.

COVER THE GRASS SEED

Now cover the seed bed so that no more than one-fourth inch of soil distributes among the grass seed. If you want fast growth, cover the seed bed with a seeding formula to allow the grass to retain temperature, nutrients, and water.

WATER FREQUENTLY

To enhance the process of germination, try to keep the seed bed wet, dampened and moisturized.  Do not water the seed deeply, water frequently but lightly.  Your new grass will grow in no time. Try to water it regularly to retain the moisture.

FINAL WORDS

Planting new grass seed is an essential part of landscaping. It improves the features of your lawn and keeps the lawn fresh and new.
