Sodding Grass - My Landscapers

Sodding Grass

FIVE STAR SOD INSTALLATION SERVICE

Why Choose Sodding Grass vs Seeding?

In order to answer why Sodding Grass is better than seeding, we need to know what sod is all about. So, simply stated, sod is a roll of grass that farmers grow and then later cut with the roots for homeowners to use. Why do that then? Because it is a much faster and efficient way to establish a flawless lawn. when seeding, on the other way, there is a need for more watering, more time invest and repeat the process maybe a few times to achieve a good result.

Our Thorough Sodding Grass Installation Process

  • Step 1: Before Sodding Grass, it is essential to check Soil Health. This is a very important step, as it ensures that your new grass can adapt easily and thrive in its place. Our examination step ensures your sod makes your property look beautiful.
  • Step 2: We remove all the existing Grass/Weeds cutting it in most situations with a sod cutter.

  • Step 3: In this stage, we are using a rototiller to turn over the soil. We loosen the soil to aerate the ground and allow nutrients in the soil to be absorbed by the new grass roots.
  • Step 4: Adding Topsoil/Soil Amendments. We apply the required elements if needed and a layer of fresh topsoil to ensure the soil condition is balanced and rich in nutrients. the topsoil layer is also important because the old soil might be taken out along with the old lawn.

  • Step 5: Leveling/Grading The Lawn area in the next step. In order to make sure that there are no visible bumps and to avoid any puddling of water after a rainfall, we grade and level the lawn.

  • Step 6: To make sure the grading and leveling are done on the best side possible, we Roll the lawn area using a drum roller, and then we are able to see if final grading and leveling are needed. Sometimes we will go through step #5 all over again.

  • Step 7: After the ground is ready it is time for new grass installation & final rolling. In this step, we install the fresh sod (brought from the farm on the same day) in a brick pattern against the slope of the lawn to avoid it from sliding. After the installation is complete, we roll the grass with a drum roller again to eliminate any air pockets that might result in dead spots on the surface.

  • Step 8: This step might sound obvious but we hear the opposite from our clients. Thus, we make sure the site is clean after the job is completed. Most importantly, at the very end, we do not leave you without providing you with instructions on how to maintain the new lawn including Watering Guide For New Sod Installations
